The Allegany County Chamber of Commerce is proud to serve as a partner for the annual FSU/WCBC Student Salute, sponsored by Chessie Federal Credit Union. Each year, qualifying Allegany County high school seniors are selected to be featured on the morning broadcasts of WCBC Radio outlining their academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement. The featured salutes air between January and April each year.
Students with the highest achievements become eligible for a scholarship to Frostburg State University, which is determined by members of the Chamber’s Education & Workforce Development Committee. A total of three scholarships are awarded with first place being a $5,000 award, and second and third place each $500.
The WCBC Student Salute has been a pillar program of the radio station for over 30 years, providing over 100 scholarships totaling more than $190,000.
If you are an Allegany County senior with a 3.5 weighted or unweighted GPA or higher and plan to attend Frostburg State University in any field of study, click the link below to complete the online application or download the form.
