Human Services Day outlines a broad range of programs and services that are aimed at meeting human needs and improving the overall quality of life for individuals, families, and our community.
During this topic day, participants are exposed to the vital role the Department of Social Services plays in aiding the most vulnerable populations in Allegany County. The class visits the Union Rescue Mission and the YMCA Gilchrist Family Center where they have an opportunity to see programs at work. An interactive portion of the day includes a poverty simulator provided by County United Way, and an optional naloxone training by AHEC West.
By providing this view into the work of human services and its intersection with leadership, participants are better equipped to make connections to community service and volunteer opportunities.
