The Allegany County Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to host a nonpartisan civics competition that encourages young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. Participating 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will flex their civics knowledge for a chance to win recognition and cash prizes. Finalists will be invited to Washington, DC to compete in the National Civics BeeĀ® national championship in Fall 2025.
The National Civics Bee is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students from public, private, charter, and homeschools in Maryland or a participating state. There is no cost to apply. Participants submit a 750-word (max) essay addressing a community issue, proposing a solution and incorporating Founding Principles and Civic Virtues. Students progress through local, state, and national levels, with increasing prizes and recognition at each stage.
Congratulations to our Essay finalists who will move on to the Live Bee!
