The Allegany County Chamber of Commerce seeks nominations annually for its Recognition Awards. The award winners are honored at the Chamber’s Recognition Reception in November. Since 1988, the event has been the Chamber’s premier annual opportunity to recognize Allegany County’s most notable successes among its membership.

CRITERIA FOR HONOREES

The Chamber’s awards are given annually at the Recognition Reception. The awardees are limited exclusively to Chamber members who are recognized by their peers as making exemplary contributions to the community by:

            1.          Contributing to the betterment of the region through community

                        service, leadership roles, and achievements that benefit the people

                        and the progress of our county.

            2.         Demonstrating an exemplary model in professional and personal practice.

Awardees provide a role model for other business professionals and community leaders; hold a greater vision for self and for company ethic that models progress; and raise the standard for professionals locally.

Criteria for the Business of the Year are based on the following:

LARGE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

Eligibility: A Chamber member business with 26 or more employees and at least 2 years of operation in Allegany County and 2 years with the Chamber.

Purpose: Recognizes a business with outstanding economic performance and community involvement.

SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

Eligibility: A Chamber member business with 25 or fewer employees with at least 2 years of operation in Allegany County and 2 years with the Chamber.

Purpose: Honors the achievements of a small business making economic and community impact.

Criteria for the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award are based on the following:      

ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT

Eligibility: A Chamber member founder, owner, or team members of a business of any size with at least 2 years of operation in Allegany County and 2 years with the Chamber.

Purpose: Celebrates risk-takers, and forward-thinking investors who are working to improve the business landscape.

Criteria for the Community Service Award are based on the following:

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

Eligibility: A Chamber member (for profit) business of any size with at least 2 years of operation in Allegany County and 2 years with the Chamber.

Purpose: Highlights exceptional commitment to service beyond its core business operations.            

Criteria for the Nonprofit of the Year Award are based on the following:

NONPROFIT OF THE YEAR

Eligibility: A Chamber member 501(c)(3) nonprofit with at least 2 years of operation in Allegany County and 2 years with the Chamber.

Purpose: Recognizes outstanding mission delivery and community impact.

The award winners will be chosen by a committee consisting of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce 1st Vice Chair, two Past Chairpersons, a selection from the general membership, and the honorees from the previous years’ awards.
